Looking at some different solar panel set ups. The panels on that Patriot Class A were really impressive! I think swiveling on the roof is the optimal set up.

Inside the Caves Cathedral Gorge Fulltime RV Trip

Doing a few video clips of inside the caves at Cathedral Gorge, Nevada State Park, as well as some video of the dramatic hills. Trying to use a tripod and motorized pan head inside those narrow caves was pretty much not work, resorted to hand panning.

Lehman Cave Great Basin National Park

I went on the cave tour for $10. A prospector named Lehman settled in the area; he decided it was more profitable to start a ranch, and sell food to the other miners. There are still some fruit trees planted by Mr. Lehman at the visitor center, and you’re free to pick any fruit. Anyways, Lehman one day stumbled upon the entrance to this cave, and being a miner, he was definitely equipped to explore it. He charged $1 to go down with a candle, and if you didn’t re-emerge after 24 hours, …

Strawberry Creek Great Basin NV Free Camping NOT RV Friendly!

I broke my own rules, and didn’t pre-scout the location! Strawberry Creek is only appropriate for vans and truck campers, maybe a 20′ Class C, but not for any average motorhome. Mine is 26′, which is considered on the small side, and I almost thought I was going to get stuck! NO room to turn around.

Bob Scott Campground NV Boondocking with Water

There’s communal water and flush toilets at Bob Scott, and the high elevation keeps the temperatures down a bit. The paid area is 10 campsites for $10 a day, and there are 4-5 “free” sites just outside the entrance. Other RVers mentioned “out back, behind” but it looks like the powers that be fenced that off.

RV Boondocking at the Fallon NV Walmart

The Fallon NV Walmart is a good place to stay for a night. Big parking lot, with light traffic, open 24 hours.

Stocking Up for 2-3 Months of Bug Out Boondocking

I have bought more, got some organic meats in the freezer, and a total of 5 cases of canned for Toto, plus bones. This is meant to last for 2-3 months. Of course, I will need to buy fresh veggies along the way, grow some sprouts, and hopefully, find organic yogurt in the small towns I will stay in for a few days to dump and refill tanks. …

How Much Does Living Fulltime in an RV Cost?

My Rig

Everyone wants to know, “How much does it cost?” They want to see a detailed chart, breaking down every little expense, as if every RVer is living the same life, and as if food and gas prices aren’t ever increasing. So, I’m not doing a break down chart!

If you have credit card debt, that will remain the same. You will still spend the same amount on food. If you financed your RV, you can count that as rent or a mortgage, as well as any camping fees you might incur. But, even …

Fulltime RV Placerville Walmart Boondocking

Got into Placerville around 7 pm, so we just spent the night at Walmart, before continuing on to the American River at Lotus, California.

Fulltime RV Tahoe Recon Mission

Went up the mountain in the Suzuki, and messed up on the GPS coordinates (Different formats? Which format am I on?) Anyways, need to make another trip, after the snow is done. Getting mixed messages; some say there are a lot of free boondocking places, others say, pickins are slim. So we will see.

Recon to Martis Dam COE Campground Near Truckee

Drove around the north (west) end of Lake Tahoe, which has gentle curves, but one steep 9% grade. Toto riding shot gun, got to work on that!

RV Boondocking for the Night at a Rest Stop Outside Tonopah NV

I decided to stay the night at a rest stop; they had a dump station, and fresh water. I sort of questioned, what am I doing here? Where am I going? What is this life all about?

Fulltime RV Red Rock Canyon Park Las Vegas

This is west of Las Vegas, going on Charleston Ave, about 20 miles out. This was after days of rain, so the colors and the clouds were really brilliant!

Scouting the Road Ahead Fulltime RV Bug Out BLM

Not planning on moving immediately, but testing out a dirt road which has intrigued me for a while, because it goes forever up into the mountains.

Blacktop Boondocking Walmart in S. Carson City

The weather got weird, so I thought I’d hunker down in Carson, rather than risk late snow in Tahoe. Not my favorite style of RV living, but we will make do, til the weather clears, and I come up with another plan of action!

Scotts Lake Tahoe RV Boondocking

I spent a couple of days at the Scott’s Lake campground, which is free. My 2004 Fleetwood Fiesta 26Q had trouble getting over Luther Pass, revving at 4,000 rpm, going 30 mph. Also, very poor wifi and cell reception, and the overcast skies were slowing down my solar panel.
