I landed in Cal Nev Ari, between Vegas and Laughlin. It snowed all day New Year’s Eve, but sunny and melting on New Year’s day. Didn’t want to boondock at the lake or in a casino parking lot in a below freezing snow storm. It’s nice here, Toto gets to run!
I’m using the Thousand Trails Zone Camping Pass I got over the summer in Tahoe. This is a very nice park, super nice staff, secure and pleasant, neighbors OK. I guess compared to some cities, Vegas is nice, but it does have a pretty wide grunge zone, and I would prefer to be out in the boonies, or a nice small town.
I stayed at an RV park, but this Walmart on the east side of Boulder Highway, across from Sam’s Town, seems OK for overnight parking. I wouldn’t stay for more than a night. FYI, the Walmart on the downtown stretch of Boulder Highway is potentially dangerous. The far east and far west sides of Las Vegas are the safest areas.
Doing a few video clips of inside the caves at Cathedral Gorge, Nevada State Park, as well as some video of the dramatic hills. Trying to use a tripod and motorized pan head inside those narrow caves was pretty much not work, resorted to hand panning.
